Malina - 16.11.2023
Hamburg-based Jan Salander was born in 1991 in Brighton, England. During his school years, he developed a passion for guitar and was part of various school bands. Between graduating from school and starting university, he presented his music in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein in bars and at various events.
At SofaConcerts, he has enriched various events over the past years - from classic living room concerts to bachelor parties and birthdays to weddings and brand collaborations. One thing becomes completely clear: Jan connects with people. The feedback on his performances is consistently positive and shows how much he captivates his audience.
Jan recently visited us as part of the Acoustic Session in our Hamburg office. In addition to some of his songs that he performed, he answered some questions in a "Need to Meet" interview. Here you can read his interview:
SofaConcerts: Describe living room concerts in 3 words!
Jan Salander: Living room concerts are intimate, super fun... that was more than three words (laughs).
SofaConcerts: Which cover song would you never play?
Jan Salander: I would never play Wonderwall by Oasis because I've had to play it so many times already and I wouldn't do it again.
SofaConcerts: Which musician would you like to grab a drink with?
Jan Salander: That's a difficult question. I think Udo Lindenberg would definitely be quite funny.
SofaConcerts: Elbe or Alster?
Jan Salander: Elbe.
SofaConcerts: Who is your musical role model?
Jan Salander: My musical role model is actually my dad, even though he's not a musician, but he's the one who suggested I play guitar and always did it, even though he, I don't want to say too much in case he hears this (laughs), couldn't play it. And that's why he's my musical role model.
SofaConcerts: HSV or St. Pauli?
Jan Salander: St. Pauli.
SofaConcerts: What's the weirdest object in your living room?
Jan Salander: I'd say a dead houseplant that's been there for 3 years, but I'm convinced it'll come back to life at some point.
SofaConcerts: Hamburg or Brighton?
Jan Salander: Hamburg.
SofaConcerts: Your greeting to the SofaConcerts community!
Jan Salander: A greeting from me - I hope you'll welcome me back again and I hope you stay healthy.
SofaConcerts: Thank you dear Jan for your visit to our office - we wish you all the best and look forward to our continued musical journey with you!

The wonderful experiences other hosts have had with Jan are shown in the feedback:
Bachelorette Party - Host: Miriam: "What an evening! It couldn't have been better. We booked Jan for the bachelorette party and what can we say, it was amazing! Jan is not only simply likeable, but also musically top-notch. The comments during the evening were "How brilliant is that!", "The best evening in a long time", "Wow, wow, wow!" and on and on. Jan can play both quiet and fast songs. In our case it was more of a party and from the first moment there was great atmosphere thanks to Jan. I can only warmly recommend Jan Salander to everyone!"
Birthday - Host: Till: "It was huge fun! Great voice, top guy, a great mix of original and cover songs to sing along to. We would do it again immediately and of course recommend it!"
SofaConcert - Host: UnserWohnzimmer: "Hello Jan, that was a super perfect evening with you. You led us through the evening so charmingly. Thank you! Everyone was very enthusiastic. Great voice, amazing songs and perfect guitar mastery. The sound came across wonderfully without an amplifier. The song Weltuntergang is suspiciously about to become big."
